Stolway has secured a contract to supply custom-engineered ATEX certified Air Handling Units (AHU’s) and Air-Cooled Condensing Units (ACCU’s) for use offshore as part the North Field East (NFE) phase of Qatar Gas’s massive North Field LNG expansion project.
The significant order of custom-built high specification Zone 2 (Instruments to Zone 1) hazardous area rated ATEX certified 160kW AHU’s & ACCU’s are being built to Qatar Gas’s specific requirements and for the harsh operating conditions of the Arabian Gulf offshore environment.
The units will be supplied from Stolway’s head office facility in Wollongong, NSW Australia and once complete, will be integrated with new Wellhead Platforms (WHP’s) and Riser Platforms (RP’s) currently under construction by McDermott at their Batam Indonesia facility.
The WHP’s & RP’s will be installed offshore at Qatar’s North Field, the world’s largest single non-associated natural gas field, located offshore north-east Qatar.
North Field LNG Expansion Project Overview
The North Field East (NFE) project is the first phase of the expansion project being developed by Qatar Gas, a subsidiary of Qatar Petroleum and will add new offshore infrastructure and four onshore LNG mega trains to raise Qatar's LNG production capacity from 77 million tons per annum (MTPA) to 110 MTPA.
The second phase - North Field South (NFS) project, will further increase Qatar's LNG production capacity from 110 MTPA to 126 MTPA. The NFS project involves the construction of two additional onshore mega LNG trains and associated offshore and onshore facilities.
